Gynuity in Burkina Faso
Gynuity has been working in Burkina Faso with local partners to conduct a large multi-country clinical trial to evaluate misoprostol for treatment of postpartum hemorrhage. This study was also implemented in Ecuador, Egypt, Turkey, and Vietnam.
We have also been working to introduce misoprostol for treatment of incomplete abortion through feasibility studies in public sector hospitals, with plans to expand to secondary level settings. Local colleagues have also participated in studies to evaluate clinical innovations on misoprostol for this indication, to reduce costs with a regimen employing fewer misoprostol pills. Additional work in this area entails plans to offer misoprostol as a first-line postabortion care treatment by providers previously untrained in MVA care.
