Gynuity in Pakistan
In collaboration with local partners, Gynuity recently completed a clinical trial in rural villages in the North West Frontier Province of Pakistan to evaluate misoprostol for prevention of postpartum hemorrhage. The study was conducted among women delivering at their homes, and misoprostol was given by trained birth attendants. Results of this trial are forthcoming.
An additional protocol evaluating misoprostol as an adjunct treatment along with injectable oxytocics for the treatment of postpartum hemorrhage was conducted in four Karachi-based hospitals together in collaboration with the Aga Khan University. The results of this study were published in BMC Pregnancy and Childbirth in August, 2008.
