Gynuity in Moldova
Gynuity has been working with local partners in Moldova on a range of clinical research studies related to medical abortion for early termination of pregnancy. We have also conducted clinical trials to study regimen innovations using misoprostol to treat incomplete abortion.
Based on our research in the country, the Ministry of Health in Moldova is developing guidelines to recommend the use of 400 mcg sublingual misoprostol, following mifepristone, for medical abortion through 63 days’ gestation. The guidelines are expected to be officially announced in early 2009.
A new multi-country project is planned to study mifepristone as a pretreatment to misoprostol induction abortion for second trimester gestations, comparing it to misoprostol alone. The study will also be conducted in Puerto Rico, Tunisia, Turkey, and Vietnam.
