Gynuity in Ukraine
Gynuity has been working with local partners in Ukraine to generate support for adopting an evidence-based medical abortion regimen. Based on the results of an introductory study to evaluate a 200 mg dose of mifepristone, the Ministry of Health recommended that this simplified regimen be incorporated into the national MOH guidelines in 2006. Gynuity continues to work with colleagues in Ukraine to expand access to mifepristone medical abortion to the southern region of the country. An experienced research hospital in the south serves as a referral site for small clinics in rural regions. This model of building referral systems within the country will help facilitate widespread use of the method.
