Gynuity has been working with local partners in Tunisia for several years to expand access to mifepristone medical abortion services. Medical abortion is highly accepted by women in the country, with 60% of women or more choosing this option in sites where offered. Gynuity has recently completed a randomized study of oral vs. sublingual misoprostol following mifepristone up to 63 days’ LMP. Gynuity also conducted qualitative research with medical abortion users to understand their experiences with the method. Gynuity continues to work with local partners to help expand medical abortion services to all regions of the country.
In addition to ongoing efforts to evaluate clinical innovations for first trimester medical abortions, Gynuity and colleagues will conduct a multi-country trial of mifepristone medical abortion for second trimester gestations, also to be implemented in Moldova, and Vietnam.Back to World Map
