This editorial commentary on the article by Aldape et al. of the same journal issue reflects on the scarcity of reliable information available on possible links between medical abortion and fatal infections caused by Clostridium sordellii. The author cautions readers that in absence of a complete explanation of this complex epidemiological and clinical situation we need to learn to live with our uncertainties and avoid the mistakes so easily caused by acting on assumptions and guesses rather than facts.
