At the International Confederation of Midwives’ 5th Regional Conference of the Americas held in Suriname, Gynuity staff present on the use of misoprostol for postabortion care, and on a panel on postpartum hemorrhage co-organized with FIGO as follows:
Misoprostol for the Management of Postpartum Haemorrhage: New Evidence and the Way Forward
- Introduction on misoprostol for the management of postpartum hemorrhage – Dr. Hamid Rushwan, FIGO
- Misoprostol vs oxytocin in Uniject for PPH prophylaxis at the community level: Research from Senegal - Jill Durocher, Gynuity Health Projects
- New approaches utilizing misoprostol for management of postpartum hemorrhage at the community level, and Misoprostol for primary versus secondary prevention of postpartum haemorrhage in India: A cluster-randomized non-inferiority community trial - Holly Anger, Gynuity Health Projects
Gynuity staff also delivered a presentation on the use of misoprostol for task-shifting postabortion care entitled: “Task-sharing and decentralizing post-abortion care services: Use of misoprostol for treatment of incomplete abortion by non-physician providers.”
