Research Dissemination Event: Induction of Labor with Oral Misoprostol
- Date
- April 11th, 2023
- Location
- Virtual or In Person (Liverpool, U.K.)
Induction of labor is often a critical component of care for hypertensive disorders in pregnancy, a leading cause of maternal and perinatal deaths worldwide. Identifying treatment strategies suitable for use in busy or low-resource environments is vital for good outcomes. Join us virtually or in person to hear important new results from a randomized trial (study protocol) that tested a simple protocol using oral misoprostol alone for inducing labor in women with hypertension in pregnancy. Results from a cost-effectiveness analysis, situational analysis, and qualitative assessment will also be presented. A panel discussion will follow the presentations to discuss the implications of the results on clinical practice and policies. The ‘MOLI: Misoprostol or Oxytocin for Labour Induction’ randomized study was carried out across three large government hospitals in central India and builds on prior research that established low-dose oral misoprostol as an optimal method for cervical ripening—a method recommended by the World Health Organization. If you would like to attend in person, the event will be held at the Liverpool Medical Institution, 114 Mount Pleasant, Liverpool, L3 5SR, U.K. Event in English. Registration for in-person attendance is free and closes on April 4. |
