Supporting Women to Self Manage Abortion: Informal Community Care Practices and Considerations for Health Systems

Gynuity staff will attend an expert group meeting organized by the International Women’s Health Coalition convening community care providers, organizations working with formal health systems, researchers, legal scholars, and others, to develop recommendations to address the needs of people who seek abortion outside of the formal health sector. The meeting will focus on key areas to supporting the self-management of abortion, including informal community care practices, synergies between informal and formal services, risks and protections in the law and policy environment, and human rights. Recommendations for additional research and action will be developed.
