Gynuity staff and colleagues participated in this regional meeting held in Taipei, September 23-27 during a panel session moderated by FIGO’s President, Prof. Gamal Serour. The panel consisted of four presentations:
- Dr. Nguyen Thi Nhu Ngoc (Center for Research and Consultancy in Reproductive Health, Vietnam) spoke on the evidence base supporting the use of misoprostol for PPH prevention, particularly in community-based settings
- Wendy Sheldon (Princeton University) presented new data on the effectiveness of the different components that comprise active management in the third stage of labor
- Ilana Dzuba (Gynuity) discussed the use of misoprostol as primary treatment of PPH
- Prof. Emad Darwish (University of Alexandria Faculty of Medicine, Egypt) presented on universal prophylaxis and secondary prevention as community-based strategies for the management of PPH
This panel is one of a series of sessions organized by FIGO at regional and international meetings as part of a joint initiative with Gynuity to increase access to information among obstetricians and gynecologists.
