During this regional meeting held May 3-6, 2012, Gynuity staff participated in two plenary sessions, detailed below. The meeting brought together over 400 policy leaders, experienced clinicians, and program managers from 30 countries with the goal of supporting accelerated implementation and expansion of maternal and newborn health programs in countries throughout Asia, specifically focusing on prevention and management of postpartum hemorrhage and preeclampsia/eclampsia, special care for newborns, and nutrition. The event was organized by the Government of Bangladesh; the United States Agency for International Development’s flagship Maternal and Child Health Integrated Program; and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation-supported Oxytocin Initiative—in collaboration with Women Deliver, Venture Strategies Innovations, the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics, and the International Confederation of Midwives.
