Clinical Trials Completed on Misoprostol for Treatment of Postpartum Hemorrhage
Gynuity and colleagues recently completed two clinical trials comparing misoprostol to oxytocin for treatment of primary postpartum hemorrhage. The results of the trials, conducted in Burkina Faso, Ecuador, Egypt, Turkey and Vietnam, are being disseminated in a series of national meetings in each of the project countries. To date, meetings have been held in Burkina Faso, Egypt and Vietnam, drawing a diverse audience of representatives of Ministries of Health, international and local NGOs, health care providers, policy makers and women’s health advocates. The purpose of the meetings is to highlight key outcomes and discuss potential policy and service delivery implications.
Plans are under way to disseminate results more widely through presentations in regional and international forums and published peer-reviewed articles. Please explore our Resources section for details on our portfolio of work in this area and research summaries on key aspects of the data to date.
