Dr. Elizabeth Raymond Joins Gynuity
We are pleased to announce that Dr. Elizabeth G. Raymond will be joining Gynuity Health Projects on November 1st, 2010, as Senior Medical Associate. Dr. Raymond brings to Gynuity decades of experience as a medical doctor, health scientist, and women’s health advocate.
Dr. Raymond (“Beth” to friends and colleagues) trained as a physician at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Duke University Medical Center; she later obtained a Master’s degree in Public Health from Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health. Beth has worked as a staff physician in a range of settings for over a dozen years and also served as a Senior Staff Fellow at the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, National Institutes of Health.
Prior to joining Gynuity, she worked for Family Health International for 16 years developing and managing a broad range of research trials primarily related to contraception and family planning. Her portfolio of work included clinical innovations in contraception, operations and behavioral research, program and clinical guidelines development, and training.
Beth has written or coauthored more than 70 peer-reviewed articles, book chapters and other publications, including 20 papers on emergency contraception, an area to which she has made crucial contributions.
Beth’s work has been motivated by her recognition of the central importance of family planning both to individual women and to public health, as well as more broadly to society, economies, and the environment.
Beth brings her passion for research to Gynuity, where she will be working on a range of topics, including one that she considers a centerpiece of health issues for women: abortion. She hopes to contribute to this vital aspect of public health and will continue to work in a research capacity on clinical and operations research projects.
Please join me in welcoming Beth to Gynuity. She can be reached at email@example.com.
