Gynuity Staff Receives Award for Outstanding Article

Dr. Nguyen Thi Nhu Ngoc, Gynuity Senior Consulting Associate and Director of the Center for Research and Consultancy in Reproductive Health in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, will receive an award at The North American Forum on Family Planning in October, 2011 for the article “Comparing two early medical abortion regimens: Mifepristone+misoprostol vs. misoprostol alone” published in Contraception.

The article reports on the outcomes of a trial designed to evaluate a misoprostol-alone regimen to a combined regimen of mifepristone-misoprostol for early abortion. The results found that the combined regimen was significantly more effective than the misoprostol-alone regimen studied for early medical abortion. Read the full abstract.

The article was selected by the Associate Editors of <i>Contraception </i>for the second annual <i>Contraception </i>Associate Editors Outstanding Article Award. This award honors the Principal Investigators who have published the most outstanding articles in <i>Contraception </i>over the preceding academic year. The Associate Editors selected three papers which were most deserving of this award. These articles were felt to have best demonstrated high quality methodology, an excellent presentation of results, and a discussion that showed an exceptional understanding of the impact of the article relative to other literature and, when relevant, clinical practice.
