Gynuity’s President Honored with Special Award of Recognition for Contributions to Safe Abortion Access

Beverly Winikoff, MD, MPH, has been presented with a Special Award of Recognition by the Georgian Society of Contraception and Reproductive Health for her significant contributions to improving safe abortion access in the Republic of Georgia. This accolade is awarded infrequently by the Society and is reserved for individuals whose work has had a real transformative effect.

Throughout her career, Beverly has used research to fill information gaps, improve services and patient experiences, and strengthen access to care. Gynuity’s initiatives in Georgia have included undertaking clinical studies on medication abortion, disseminating research findings, delivering training to health professionals, developing educational resources for both women and providers, and providing support to local experts on updates for national abortion guidelines.

Tamar Tsereteli accepted the award on behalf of Beverly at the Society’s annual conference in Tbilisi. We recognize Tamar’s key role in managing Gynuity’s projects in Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
