Improving Quality of Care for Second Trimester Abortion in Uzbekistan

Gynuity Health Projects, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Women’s Wellness Center, conducted a two day seminar entitled “Improving Quality of Care for Second Trimester Abortion in Uzbekistan” in Tashkent, Uzbekistan on April 11-12, 2013.

Seventy participants attended the seminar including representatives from the Ministry of Health, Gynuity, local Association of Obstetricians & Gynecologists, and medical providers from Tashkent and other rural regions of Uzbekistan. The goal of the seminar was to familiarize providers with evidence-based second trimester abortion practices.

The seminar was followed by a roundtable meeting during which Gynuity staff provided technical assistance to the representatives of MoH in developing national abortion guidelines. Gynuity continues collaborative activities with MoH in planning future projects in medical abortion in Uzbekistan.
