Gynuity staff and colleagues delivered several presentations at this international conference, held in Libreville, Gabon, drawing over 600 ob/gyns, nurses/midwives and program representatives from Africa. Specific presentations are described below. Gynuity staff participated on a panel organized by UNFPA on postabortion care, focusing on the way in which medical treatment changes the paradigm for postabortion care services as well as two dedicated sessions on misoprostol – one on PAC and one on PPH
- Dr. Alioune Gaye (Senegal) – A misoprostol for PAC, review of the literature.
- Pr. Madi Nayama (Niger) – Integrating misoprostol for PAC into existing services in Niger.
- Dr. Adolphe Der Some (Burkina Faso) – Misoprostol for PPH prevention. A review of the literature and its utility where oxytocin is not available.
- Pr. Blami Dao (Burkina Faso) – Treatment of PPH with sublingual misoprostol vs. oxytocin: Conclusion from two large randomized trials.
