Future of Medical Abortion in Georgia

Gynuity organized a round-table meeting, “Future of medical abortion in Georgia”. The half-day meeting was attended by 25 participants including representatives from the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Affairs, National Center for Diseases Control and Public Health, National Reproductive Health Council, UNFPA, local NGOs, pharmaceutical companies, medical providers and other key stakeholders. The agenda included a presentation from a local NGO on the history and current situation on medical abortion in Georgia. A Gynuity representative presented findings from an assessment of medical abortion services at previous research sites. Presentations were followed by discussion on ways to overcome challenges/obstacles identified, and to increase access to medical abortion services and ensure that high-quality services are being provided.
