
Improving Safe Abortion Services in Georgia

Gynuity convened a dissemination meeting on the results of their research study “Acceptability and feasibility of simplified medical abortion in the Kvemo Kartli and Kakheti regions of Georgia: A study of 400 µg buccal misoprostol following 200 mg mifepristone for abortion up to 63 days gestation”. The study was conducted in two clinics in Bolnisi, Kvemo Kartli and Telavi, Kakheti. Thirty five participants attended the dissemination meeting including representatives from the National Center for Diseases Control and Public Health, the Tbilisi State Medical University, local NGOs, pharmaceutical companies and medical providers. The meeting included a presentation on the current situation on elective termination of pregnancy in Georgia, Gynuity presentations on six years of collaboration with colleagues from Georgia, as well as a presentation on the results of the study.
