National Dissemination Meeting, Karachi, Pakistan

Gynuity Health Projects, in collaboration with The Aga Khan University, Karachi and the Aga Khan Health Services, Pakistan, recently completed a community-based clinical trial in Chitral district, North-West Frontier Province, Pakistan to examine the efficacy and safety of misoprostol for prevention of postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) during home births. In April, colleagues presented the results from this trial at a national event held in Karachi at the The Aga Khan University, where representatives from the Ministry of Health, local NGOs, health care providers, policy makers, and women’s health advocates were in attendance. The purpose of the meeting was to share key outcomes of the trial and discuss potential policy and service delivery implications. Highlights from the meeting’s discussions were featured in the Pakistani news, The Nation.
