
Training on Medical Abortion in Tbilisi and Telavi, Republic of Georgia

Gynuity Health Projects held two trainings on medical abortion May 25-28 to increase awareness of the method among providers from two eastern regions of Georgia, Kvemo Kartli and Kakheti. The trainings were aimed at strengthening the capacity of obstetricians/ gynecologists to provide MA services in the regions. Twenty two ob/gyns from 7 cities in Kvemo Kartli attended a training in Tbilisi, and 23 ob/gyns from 6 cities in Kakheti attended a training in Telavi, Kakheti. The regional trainings were followed by a training on the upcoming clinical study “Acceptability and feasibility of a simplified medical abortion regimen in the Kvemo Kartli and Kakheti regions of Georgia: A study of 400 µg buccal misoprostol following 200 mg mifepristone for abortion up to 63 days gestation.” The training was held in Telavi on May 28, and was attended by 2 principal investigators and 4 study team members from Bolnisi and Telavi.
