In response to a multitude of new legislation in the U.S. regulating induced abortion in the guise of protecting women’s health, the authors compared abortion-related mortality to mortality associated with other outpatient surgical procedures as well as some nonmedical activities. Induced abortion in the U.S. is extremely safe and these efforts to regulate it only impede access and potentially harm women. Contraception 2014 Nov;90(5):476-479.
