Dissemination Meeting “Improving Safe Abortion Services in Azerbaijan”

Gynuity convened a dissemination meeting on the results of “Acceptability and feasibility of medical abortion in Azerbaijan: A study of 800 µg buccal misoprostol following 200 mg mifepristone for abortion up to 63 days gestation” was conducted in two clinics in Baku. Fifty participants attended the dissemination meeting including representatives from the Ministry of Health, local and international NGOs, a pharmaceutical company, medical providers and other key stakeholders. The national coordinator of reproductive health for Azerbaijan welcomed all participants and highlighted the importance of expanding medical abortion services throughout the country. The dissemination meeting included a presentation on the current situation of elective termination of pregnancy in Azerbaijan, presentations on mifepristone-misoprostol medical abortion, as well as a Gynuity presentation on the results of the 800 µg buccal miso study.
