Medical Abortion Technical Meeting in South America

On May 9-10, Gynuity, in collaboration with Clacai, the Latin American Consortium on Unsafe Abortion, convened a two-day meeting on medical abortion for over 60 public sector providers, decision makers and advocates operating in 9 countries. The meeting invited several clinical experts and advocates to present and discuss evidence-based medical abortion regimens for first and second trimester abortion, clinical management issues, key aspects of service delivery, and programmatic questions related to medical abortion. Country teams also identified key challenges to abortion provision as well as feasible next steps for overcoming obstacles to providing safe, legal abortion services in their respective countries and contexts.
