Quantitative serum hCG testing pre and post procedure to confirm successful medical abortion is a recommended follow-up method by Planned Parenthood Federation of America and the World Health Organization. This panel presented data from new studies exploring the effectiveness, feasibility and acceptability of using sequential semi-quantitative urine pregnancy tests (SQPT) in lieu of serum hCG and/or transvaginal ultrasound to confirm successful medical abortion.
