Training for Mexican Healthcare Providers on Misoprostol for Incomplete Abortion

Date
March 8th, 2011

Between March 8-16, Gynuity organized a series of trainings on the use of misoprostol for the treatment of incomplete abortion with health care providers from three Mexican states – Puebla, Queretaro and Veracruz. The trainings were preceded by a project launch seminar in Mexico City with state-level MOH officials and administrative heads from three hospitals selected in collaboration with the national MOH to participate in a project that aims to increase awareness about and access to misoprostol for this indication. During the seminar and subsequent trainings in each state participants were trained on the misoprostol protocol intended to be implemented as a first-line treatment for all eligible patients, and documentation of women treated with misoprostol. Gynuity will provide technical support to hospitals during the period of introduction and help document successes and challenges.
