Uptake and Acceptability of Home Use of Mifepristone for Medical Abortion

Date
April 1st, 2009

Gynuity held the first of a series of trainings for a medical abortion study with clinicians and administrators in four U.S. cities (Atlanta, New York City, Philadelphia), Moldova and Nepal; the first training was conducted in Atlanta. The study will recruit over 600 women and seeks to assess the acceptability of home-use of mifepristone for termination of pregnancy among women who choose it and their providers. Currently mifepristone must be taken at the clinic; being able to take the medication at home may allow women to better schedule the abortion procedure around their work and household responsibilities.
