Meeting on Misoprostol for Prevention and Treatment of Postpartum Hemorrhage

More than 50 leading researchers, policymakers, program managers and advocates gathered for a two‐day meeting March 11 & 12, 2009 on misoprostol for the prevention and treatment of post‐partum hemorrhage at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (download meeting report for further details). The purpose of the meeting was to review evidence on misoprostol’s use for these indications, including its safety, efficacy, and program effectiveness, and to identify unanswered questions and programmatic challenges related to expanding its use in different settings.
